How to Clean a Squirrel

Hove you ever wondered how to clean and cook a squirrel? Well I know how to clean, and cook a squirrel just follow these tips and you will be able to clean, and cook one.

Place the squirrel on the ground belly up: This step is self explanatory.

Pull the end of the squirrel’s tail up slightly towards you: While the squirrel is on the ground get the tail, and pull the end of the tail up a little bit towards you.

Cut:  Use a Very sharp knife, and make a small cut across the bottom of the tail. Cut it where the tail meets the body. Make sure you don’t cut the tail off. The cut should be deep enough for the squirrels skin to be on top of the squirrel.

Split the hide: Make a cut through the hide down the inside of one hind leg so it connects to the cut at the tail. You should have one continuous cut from the tip of one hind leg to the tail, then back up the other hind leg.

Place your foot on the squirrel’s tail:

Pull:  Pull up on the squirrels hind legs. The skin should peel off from the bottom of the squirrel to the head. Squirrels have tough skin so it is hard to remove.

Remove the head and feet: Cut the squirrels head off at the neck, then cut off the feet.

Field dress:  Slice the belly from stem and stern, and remove all entrails. After you remove all the entrails throw them away. Rinse off the rest of the blood in clean water.

Cook: A small squirrel will be tender, and maybe roasted,  while bigger squirrels have to be stewed.

Roasted:  Lay the squirrel horizontally between two upright, forked branches. Slowly cook the squirrel until it’s slightly pink in the inside.

Stewed: Cut the big squirrel into serving pieces. Put the pieces in a pot of boiling water. The squirrel  is done when the meat fall off the bone. Remove the bones then you can eat.

9/11

After the attack on the World Trade Center, New York City, called for a "soaring”.
But ten years later Daniel Libeskind saw in those walls a raw memento of that bitter day and a symbol of the strength of the city and nation.
the entire memorial plaza far below street level. To do that also meant, in effect, asking them to situate their memorials within a larger and potentially overwhelming commemorative space. Arad's design originally called for ramps that would lead visitors down to galleries 30 ft. below ground.

the names of the 9/11 dead would be inscribed on walls visible behind the curtains of falling water. It might have been a profoundly beautiful effect.
the idea was dropped. Instead the names are engraved — cut all the way through, actually, and backlit at night — on bronze panels along the parapets that form the perimeter of both voids

there are 2,983, including everyone (other than the terrorists) who died at the World Trade Center and the Pentagon and in the crash of United Airlines Flight 93 in Shanksville, Pa., as well as the six who died in the truck bomb attack on the Twin Towers in 1993

I think the memorial is good because everyone can see who all died on 9/11, and the six who died in the truck bomb attack on the Twin Towers in 1993. It also can give closure to the families that lost a loved one that day. It also remind people what happened on that day, and to the people that lost their life to save other people

What we read in class

In class we read this story called “A Dark Brown Dog”. I really loved this book. It was interesting from the first page to the last. I would recommend people to read this story.

This story was about a little boy found this dog, and started to be mean to the dog. Then the little boy started to walk home, and the dog was following him. So he took the dog home with him. The little  boy’s dad was okay with the dog being there. But one day the little boy wasn’t home. The dad got drunk, and started beat the dog. He hit the dog with a coffee pot twice, and kicked it.Then the boy came home, and saw that his dad was drunk and hid under the table. Then the dad thought it would be funny to pick up the dog and throw it out the window. People that was outside saw the dog flying across the sky. The little boy got from under the table, and ran outside to find the dog. The people found the little boy beside the dog.

I didn’t like the dad because he got drunk, and hurt the dog then ended up killing it. I know the little boy was scared when his dad was drunk because he hid under the table. The boy was sad to when his dad through the dog out the window because he went outside, and sat beside his dead dog.

What You Read

http://community.killerdana.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/03/rip-sion-milosky-surfing.jpg

Bail your board: If you are in the impact zone jump off your board into the water. The impact zone is where the top of the wave meet the trough.

Avoid the “Washing Machine” (Turbulent s):  Turbulent s are full of air, and it can be very hard to swim in. If you try to go to the surface when you are in the turbulent s, the turbulents just going to push you under some more.

Don’t Struggle: Fighting a very big wave will make you tired very fast, and will improve your risk of drowning.

Dive: Swim as deep as you can. Try to dive between twenty and twenty-five feet

Allow the first wave to pass over you: When you are under the water you will see or hear the the waves crash. Just wait until that wave crash.

Locate the board’s leash: If you are confused and you don’t know which way is up just grab your ankle and follow your leash. The leash will lead you to your surfboard which is floating on the surface of the water.

Swim Towards the surface: When you start to reach the top of the water put your hands above your head so you want hit your head on your surfboard, Jet Ski, or any other wipe-out surfers.

Wait out the set of waves by diving underneath them: Waves come in sets of three or five depending on the surf conditions. Count the waves as they break so you will know when the water is calm. Swim as deep as you can then curl up like a ball as the waves crash over you. Try to come up for air as quickly as you can. But make sure its between each wave.

Paddle to calmer water: When the set has passed, swim to the top of the water get on your surfboard and paddle as quick as you can further out to to sea, beyond the impact zone. Take the Blue Water “the calm water” back to the shore.

What You Read.

When you are driving in the rain your main focus is to get to where you need to go safely. But when you are caught in a flash flood would you know what to do? If not you can follow these five steps so you and other people driving can be safe.

Step one: Watch the cars that are in front of you. If you see the car in front of you swerving a little bit because of all the water in the road don’t keep driving. You can end up in the other lane, and hurt someone or yourself.

Step two: Estimate the water depth. Water can be deeper than it looks. If you don’t know how deep the water is don’t keep driving because a car can start floating at six inches.

Step three: Exit the car quickly if it starts to float. If the water is so high  that you can’t open your door try to climb out your window. If you have electric windows try to bust out the windows so you can get somewhere safe.

Step four: Walk or run safely. Get somewhere high off the ground as soon as possible.

Step five: Try to float. If the water knocks you off your feet cover your head with your arms, and try to float

What we read in class

In class we read a story about the Trogloraptor spider. The Trogloraptor spider looks kind of like the Brown Recluse. Trogloraptor is about twice as large as the Brown Recluse.

A Brown Recluse is a very venomous spider. If you get bit by a Brown Recluse, and you don’t get it treated you can lose a limb or die. A Brown Recluse is native to the United States. The brown recluse spider can be found mainly in the central Midwestern.

What makes this spider so special is that at the end of it’s legs it have little claws to catch food. The first place this spider has been seen was in Oregon's caves.

The specialists don’t know what this spider eats or its attack behavior.

When people see this spider they will be scared because of it’s size or the claws at the end of it’s legs. But this spider is not venomous to humans.

What Happened in class

In civics Mrs. Hibberts taught us about the Naturalization process. People that was not born in the United States, and want to become an American  citizen have to go through this process.

The first you would have to do is read the Naturalization guide. The Naturalization guide tells you how to apply for the Naturalization test

Then you have to Complete the Naturalization Eligibility Worksheet. This worksheet decide if you are eligible to apply for naturalization. If you do not meet all the requirements for this worksheet you can wait until you think you can pass this worksheet

If or when you pass that worksheet you get an Application for Naturalization (Form N-400).

After the form is filled out you have to be interviewed. After you are done with the interview you have to take a English and Civics tests. In the category you have to know Reading, Writing, and Speaking. If you pass your test, and interview you Take the Oath.

Taking the Oath is a promise to follow the U.S.A laws, and not take any orders from any foreign country etc. After you recite the oath they will give you your Certificate
of Naturalization. Then you are an American citizen.

"I hereby declare, on oath, that I absolutely and entirely renounce and abjure all allegiance and fidelity to any foreign prince, potentate, state or sovereignty, of whom or which I have heretofore been a subject or citizen; that I will support and defend the Constitution and laws of the United States of America against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I will bear arms on behalf of the United States when required by the law; that I will perform noncombatant service in the armed forces of the United States when required by the law; that I will perform work of national importance under civilian direction when required by the law; and that I take this obligation freely without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; so help me God."

My Life

My name is Jada McGill I live in Kings Mountain. I been living there for sixteen years now. I love to play basketball, and swim. I started playing basketball at age seven. I played for the YMCA and in middle school but only for my seventh grade year. I couldn’t persuade myself to try out so I didn’t. In high school I wanted to play basketball but I left in the middle of tryouts. I was mad because it was the last day.    I don’t swim that much anymore. I can’t find time to swim anymore because of school and my job.

I’ve been working at mcDonald’s for nine months in November it will be a year. I started working when I was fifteen. At first I couldn’t do that much because of the child labor laws. Now that i’m sixteen i get tired of working.

I have two sisters and one brother. My oldest sister is twenty-four years old her name is Quan. She got her CNA degree from Gaston College last Spring. My other is eighteen years old her name is Larn. She is a freshman at Winston Salem State University. My brother is nineteen years old, and his name is Trey. He just joined the U.S Military a few weeks ago.

I’m so happy to be in the Early College program. I think it will have a big impact on my future.  I also think this program will open doors for me to get into the college I want. So far school has been a little hectic with the building not done, and all. I like walking around campus.

Some stuff I don’t like about being at the school is: having class in the auditorium, being escorted to class, and the bag lunches. I know all of this is for our safety, and because our building is not done yet. It’s just going to take me awhile to get use to all this.

After I graduate from Gaston I want to go to Ohio State University to be an anesthesiologist.
